On October 16th, the 8th grade students, along with their teacher Mrs. Manning, attended a field trip to the National History Museum located in Los Angeles. The purpose and intention of this field trip was both to enjoy and “learn by reviewing the evolution of life on earth” as told by Mrs. Manning.

It was 8th grade’s first field trip. After about a 2 hour bus ride to the museum, they found it highly crowded, spectacular, and enormous. When they entered, the first view that seemed to catch the attention of many was an enclosed area showing the skeletal figure of both a T-Rex and a Triceratops standing upright. Further down, the students found lots of Taxidermy displayed and descriptions of interesting facts about each animal and their environment.

The class also explored areas such as the gem and minerals room and the history of horror. “The gem and minerals room were so beautiful,” said Tailor, who is one of the students. “The history of horror one was probably my favorite area because it was cool and interesting,” said Alex, another student. During the mini tour, the teacher chose 15 interesting sections for the students to read and memorize for a quiz that would to be taken the day after.

As the field trip came to an end, everyone was disappointed to leave.“I thought the field trip was okay and pretty cool,” said Devon. Most students seemed to have really liked the field trip and admired such incredible things that once used to roam on earth. 8th grade is definitely looking forward to their next field trip.
