It was wonderful meeting with all of you last week during Parent Conferences. I am so blessed to have your continuing support: thank you!
As we come closer to the Feast of the Nativity, my wish for all of us is for a blessed Christmas season and a New Year full of promise and peace.
This week the fourth graders will be completing Reading logs for four days only, to be brought in on Friday. Click here for the Reading log: Reading log #2 We are also doing ixL Math: B 3, 5 and 6. I would like that completed by Friday as well.
There will be no tests this week!!
In Spelling we are doing the review unit, Unit 12. I would like the book pages done by Thursday. We will work on these pages tomorrow and Wednesday in class.
In Grammar we continue our study of verbs, moving on to the past tense.
In Math we continue our work using map scales, and we are also discussing number stories (math word problems).
Our main focus in Religion class continues to be the season of Advent and the coming season of Christmas.
We continue chapter three in Social Studies, learning about the early Spanish explorers. We have begun reading about the founding of the missions, and I will be sending home preliminary information about the School Fair Mission Project for fourth graders, so that your child can choose a mission to learn about and possibly visit in the coming months.
We continue our study of food webs, chapter 3 in Science.
In Reading groups, we are finishing work on the books we have been reading. New groups will begin after Christmas. I will send out an email letting you know what books to purchase for your child for the next unit of reading, which will comprise nonfiction selections related to weather and another work of literature.
Merry Christmas!
Mrs. Dwyer
