I hope everyone enjoyed the Labor Day weekend. We have a very busy but short four-day week ahead, which ends on Friday with Grandparents and Special Friends Day. I look forward to seeing all of these special visitors then.
What we are working on this week:
Religion: We continue learning how God speaks to us through the Church.
Math: We continue ixL Math homework; students should complete A3, A6 and A9 by next Monday. We continue our study of geometry, with a test on Unit One planned for early next week.
Spelling: We are studying Unit Three, “long and short i” words and will have a test on these words on Friday. Students have been working on the unit pages in their Spelling books, and these pages are to be done by Friday. We are also writing sentences using each of the words (20 sentences) and these will be due on Friday as well.
Grammar: We are learning about simple subjects and predicates.
Writing Workshop: We are working on developing realistic characters in preparation for writing a realistic fiction.
Vocabulary: We began our study of Unit Two words last week; because of Grandparents Day on Friday, we will not take the test until next Monday.
Reading: There will be no fluency homework this week. We will do Reading Logs, however, which will be due next Monday. Click here to access the reading log. Reading Log #2 In reading groups we continue reading our literature selections.
Social Studies: We continue using our California Studies Weekly newspaper; we are learning unique facts about California. We will have our first quiz on Thursday.
Science: We continue learning about living and nonliving components of ecosystems.
Thanking you for your support,
Mrs. Mary Dwyer
