It was a pleasure meeting with everyone during conferences last week. I am blessed to have such a wonderful group of students and to have your continuing support.

We have a free dress ($1) on Wednesday, and a FREE free dress on Friday.

We will celebrate the Christmas season with a class party on Friday and then begin our Christmas break at noon. May your Christmas season be a time of many blessings and much joy!

THE WEEK AHEAD:

Religion: We have finished Unit 2. This week we continue our focus on the Advent Season, preparing for the Coming of Christ on Christmas Day.

Math: We continue Unit 4, focusing on decimals. I would like students to complete ixL Math skills U 1 and U 2 by January 3rd.

Reading Workshop: We continue reading mysteries this week. Students are to complete a reading log and have it signed for all reading done at home (20-30 minutes per day). Click here for the reading log, which will be due this Friday, or January 3rdreading log

Writer’s Workshop: We enjoyed listening to others’ stories today; after Christmas we will begin our unit on Opinion/Essay writing.

Reading Fluency: It is fluency #16 this week; it will be due this Friday, or January 3rd.

Spelling: This week we are doing Unit 14, verbs with endings. As practice, students will be writing each word three times, as well as completing the book pages. The test will be on Friday.

NO VOCABULARY THIS WEEK

Science: We continue chapter 3, which focuses on Energy in Ecosystems.

Social Studies: We have finished our study of early Native Americans in California, and will have the test this Thursday. Students are bringing home notes and magazines (#5-9) to study in preparation for the test. They can review using the Vocabulary activities on spellingcity.com, and they can take the practice tests for each week (5-9) on studiesweekly.com.
