Dear Parents, August 21, 2017
Welcome Back to School…and to First Grade! I am beyond excited to start the school year with your students. And what an accomplishment we have already! We made it through the first full day! We are getting used to a lot of routines in first grade but we are also beginning our content.
Language Arts: We will officially start our Readers Workshop and our Writers Workshop tomorrow! As we dive in, we will be focusing a lot on routine for this week. We will begin our Language Arts homework next week.
Math: This week, we start our math lessons by learning about number lines, how to compare numbers, and “one more”/ “one less” number stories. Our first homework assignment will be coming home soon!
Science/Social Studies: We will be introducing our textbooks and looking at our first vocabulary words!
Religion: This week we will take some time to practice our prayers and begin discussing our first chapter in our religion textbooks.
Reminders for the Week:
- PE Uniforms on Tuesday and Thursday!
- Back to School Night is on Wednesday at 6:30pm. This night is for parents only!
- Friday is a full day!
