Hello Third Grade Families,
Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone enjoyed the very long weekend. Summer is nearly upon us. Let’s make these last two weeks count!
Thursday is our last day of PE for the school year.
Friday is Move-Up Day!!! Time to get a sneak peak of your NEW classroom & teacher.
Math: Last week we spent a considerable amount of time mastering the lattice method for multiplying multi-digit numbers. The class picked up this new skill with gusto and I would encourage anyone at home to ask your son or daughter how to use it. For those of us who didn’t grow up using the lattice method, click here for a video link that explains it step-by-step.
Last week of homework! Please complete the following skills on IXL Math:
H.16 Lattice Multiplication
M.12 Multi-Step Word Problems
Reading: The students will continue to review skills taught this year while finally enjoying (school appropriate) books from home. We will also celebrate our reading accomplishments this year with some very special days this week and next. See your child’s planner for details!
Grammar: One more time, we will review the use of quotations marks as well as capitalization in book titles.
Word Work: This week, each group has a set of fun, challenge words. The students will not be tested on them.
Science: It’s all about changes in states of matter this week: evaporation, condensation, melting, freezing…
Religion: This week we will wrap up Chapter 18 before we begin Chapter 19: We Belong to the Kingdom.
Best,
Ms. Espinosa
