Dear Kindergarten families,
In your child’s homework folder is an envelope with craft sticks to help with mental math skills. Especially subtraction combinations from 10. I can see everyone needs more practice. In class we take turns asking several different math combinations such as, “I have 9 sticks in the pocket, if I take out 4 how many are left?” Please do pocket problems at home to sharpen your child’s subtraction skills.
As always read nightly. After reading a favorite book, use form “I think You Should Read This Book!” Please have your child write why they enjoy the book in a sentence or two and illustrate. A paper for Cinco de Mayo is included in the folder as well.
