Welcome Sacred Heart faculty and staff, students, family, friends, and of course, the class of 2024!
Well, today is the day- woohoo!
For many of you, I have had the privilege of being your teacher for more than just the middle school years. From first grade, fourth, seventh, and now eighth, I have watched you grow into the wonderful young men and women you are. You have always been a class that I have cherished and I am honored to be by your side as you end this chapter of your educational journey.
I spent a long time trying to find the right words for this moment. I struggled on what to say to convey to you what you have meant to Sacred Heart and all that we hope for your future.
Thankfully God stepped in at just the right time. A song came on the radio that caught my attention. It felt, and still feels, like these lyrics are meant for you, the graduating class of 2024. The artist, Jeremy Camp, sang this refrain:
I believe that you and I
Are in the right place, at the right time
God called us by name
And He doesn’t make mistakes
I know we were born to shine bright
In a dark world that needed some light
Don’t have to be afraid
Maybe we were made for these days
God, indeed has called each of you by name. You are individuals that are made for these days. So make them count.
-Be people, who are in the moment. Take stock of who you are and what you can do where God has placed you.
-Be people who use God’s light to dispel darkness. Do good everywhere you can, even in places where you are the single voice.
-Be people who are fearless. Remember that God does not make mistakes, you are exactly where you need to be.
Even though I am sad Sacred Heart’s time with you has come to an end, I, and the staff here, am thrilled for what is to come for each of you. Class of 2024 you were made for these days- shine bright. Congratulations!
