Dear Second Grade Parents,

Our little saints did such a WONDERFUL job on Friday!   Thank you to all for helping your child memorize their saint report & making their great costumes.  I was very proud of our second graders. Friday will be an early dismissal at 12:00.

TAKE A PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS THIS WEEK…

Homework:  Homework is now due on Monday. Reading Log/ IXL (L.2) 15 minutes/Fluency

Children went home with a password  last Tuesday for Everyday Math.  This week we will continue reviewing 2.9-2.12 this week.  You may do any of the home links for extra support.  This is not required but highly recommended.  Please send any extra work that is completed with your child on Monday.

Religion:  We will begin Unit 2:  Jesus shows us how to love God our Father

English Language Arts:

We will be reading Around the Pond:  Who’s Been Here? We are learning about Realistic Fiction and continue to learn comprehension strategies such as story mapping and cause and effect.
 We have also been using a venn diagram to compare stories.

Writing: Grammar; naming words, common and proper nouns

Spelling & Phonics: Unit 10: words with endings:  nd, mp, nt, nk, and ng

MATH: We are finding patterns using the frame and arrow problems.  We will continue reviewing money, pounds, ounces and graphs.  Please look on the Everyday Math site to find examples.

SOCIAL STUDIES:   We started receiving flat mail this week.  It is the highlight of our day.  We will continue studying maps and communities. We will also read about Native Americans.

SCIENCE: Frog Life Cycle (traits)/We will take our unit 2 Pretest for Animal Life Cycles.
