To maintain accreditation, every six years a team of professional educators spends three days on a campus to document everything they read about in a review of the school called, Improving Student Learning, a self-study written by the school’s staff.

The 2018-2019 school year was Sacred Heart School’s “writing year.” The staff responded in writing to multiple questions about the school’s:

  • Catholic Identity
  • Organization
  • Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
  • Support Services
  • Resources (Enrollment, Finance, Development).

Those responses were discussed and reflected upon, and a narrative of those responses was written. Over the summer, readers from The Department of Catholic Schools reviewed the self-study and presented a written assessment of its quality. Editing is underway with that assessment as a guide, and Sacred Heart School’s Self-Study is almost complete.

The final step involves acknowledging the successes of the last six years while creating goals to work on during the coming six. These goals evolve into The Action Plan that defines the three main goals and their strategies for the coming years.

The 2019-2020 school year is Sacred Heart School’s “visit year” as a chairperson and the visiting team spend three days in March looking for the proof of the accomplishments and goals that our self-study points out.
