Dear Kindergarten Families,
This Wednesday is our field trip! If you have not turned in both permission slips and the $15 to cover cost of bus — please do by Tuesday morning.
Learning about going to church for worship and how everyone has a role in church is our goal for religion this week. We will learn that church has more than one meaning. It is a physical building of worship and a small or large group of people who come together to learn and love as Jesus loves us.
Phonics instruction continues with short vowels /a/, /i/, and /o/ and short CVC words in these vowel families. cat, bit, dot, etc. We are continuing with sight words and we will have a spelling test for list 4 words: up, at, see, he, do. Writing workshop has us working on ‘How to Books’ – and work on how to add an introduction to our books. Reading workshop finds us using our super powers to sound out words so we can read smoother and begin to read difficult words.
Math focus this week is reviewing measurement and simple addition facts to 20 and subtraction facts to 10. We are working hard to understand concept of place value. Using ones, tens, hundreds with two different tools: paper money and blocks to reinforce the concept.
Science learning about our five senses. Social studies continues with our American Symbols.
Anyone is interested reading to our class in library this month? The 19th and 26th are open – time 1:30 to 2:00.
This Friday is a noon dismissal.
Thank you for your children!
