Dear Third Grade Parents and Families, During the first weeks of school, I chose to keep all Accelerated Math work in the classroom. This allowed me to see exactly where each student is in terms of his/her math skills and has informed my teaching and grouping. Now that we have these systems in place, I’d […]
Kindergarten Families, It is hard to believe that we are beginning our ninth week of school. Please keep in mind the Saint’s Parade will be here soon. Send in the name of your child’s Saint this week. We have to make banners for your children. Our field trip went quite well. The bus was a […]
We finally finished Wayside School is Falling Down, the second book in Louis Sachar’s classic Wayside School series. Our class was in stitches upon discovering that the Wayside kids were, in fact, not experiencing an earthquake but an invasion of cows! We will be examining “fantasy” as a genre within fiction literature next week.
After returning from the Science Lab we came up with a list to describe what a cross section of celery looks like: Bubbles, snake skin, pimples, chicken pox, cells, and really small eggs. After working with our vocabulary words one student said, ” Everything comes together when you use vocabulary words, that’s really cool.”
Fourth graders have been enjoying our Gooseberry Park vocabulary and character tree. Each leaf of our brightly colored fall tree carries a vocabulary word from the book. Students have searched the internet for chocolate labs, squirrels, and other exciting characters that have been part of our days for the last 5 weeks.
Today our class will be in the Science Lab moving water in celery. We are going to collaborate together, predict and observe what happens when celery is put in water with food coloring.
Sixth graders are now divided randomly into two math groups: the Cool Cubes and Apple Pi. We are working on pattern recognition and algebraic expressions. Seventh graders will have their test this Friday and then they will be divided into two groups. The eighth graders are already in two math groups: the Negative Nerds and […]
We are a very busy class! The eighth graders learned many new ideas about being leaders when they attended the leadership conference last Thursday and look forward to putting these ideas into action. In math we are learning how to simplify complicated algebraic expressions and in science class we are preparing for a chapter test […]

Cardinal virtues are temperance, prudence, justice and fortitude. The Theological virtues are faith, hope, and charity. Now they are writing and illustrating a short story on one virtue to […]
