We are pleased to have the Science In Depth Study complete!  During the coming school year, we will focus on determining power standards for Science; standards viewed to be pivotal in creating ongoing academic success.  The faculty will work to find Science standards that assist with what students need for success in the current academic year, the next, in life, and on standardized tests.  We will hold each standard to the following test:

Endurance

Will the knowledge and skills to which this standard relates be used for several years after they use that standard at this grade level?

Leverage

Will the knowledge and skills to which this standard relates help students in other academic areas?

Readiness

Does the teacher in the next grade regard this standard as a necessary entry point for a student to enter with success and confidence?

As we continue to prepare for the 200-day calendar, we plan to use the extra time to approach each academic area in more depth, to allow for more differentiation, and to increase the focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math).
