Dear Kindergarten Families,
What a nice Parent’s Day on Friday! It was great to see so many parents and family members able to attend Mass and visit our class. Thank you for the flowers, cards and gift cards for Teacher Appreciation Day. I appreciate you and all you do in support for our school. This is one of the main reasons why we are an A+ school!
This Friday will be a full day–with an activity with our school families.
We will be celebrating three birthdays in February! Dylan on the 9th, Jomari on the 11th, and Jared on the 23rd. Lots to celebrate in this busy month of February!
Looking ahead: Valentine’s Day** next Monday and an outreach program here at school, “Feathered Friends” cost is $4.00. Envelopes coming home on Tuesday-permission slip is not required. Please return by Friday, Feb.11.
**On Valentine’s Day students may wear Valentine color tee shirts or blouses. Pants/shorts, skirt/skort must be uniform. Valentine socks can be worn, shoes are uniform, hair clips/bows can be holiday related.
Academics this week will include reading for comprehension, we will stop and consider what happened and how it affects the outcome of the story. Looking and listing sight words found in our readings. Short a review and short i word families. I would like to encourage this website for homework this week it is helpful with short vowel family identification. Click here and begin the Word Family Sort. Click here to go to Construct – A- Word. For math we are working with calendar, names of days and months of the year. We are counting to 100 by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Our hundred day projects helped reinforce this concept. Religion lessons look at how we can be a good shepherd as we follow Jesus’ example. Social Studies will focus on our country’s leaders past and present. In science we are mapping out our land form and discussing winter animals and how they survive in the cold.
