Hello Families!
This week is our last full week of school before Christmas Break. We will be having a 2pm dismissal on Friday. Next week, our last day of school will be on Thursday with a noon dismissal.
Today, as a school we will go to church for the Holy Day of Obligation for The Solemnity of The Immaculate Conception. This is honoring Mother Mary’s privilege of her own birth, coming into the world free from sin. From this, she is able to carry Jesus as his mother. The eighth graders have a special activity for today’s holy day to share with the students that they will be bringing to our class.
In Religion, this week we will continue with activities to prepare ourselves for Christmas. We will be having a “Food Drive” all week to help the Sacred Heart Food Pantry. We will be learning about our 2nd Sunday of advent candle. We will also learn ways we can be helpful to our families during this wonderful season of giving and love.
In Math we will be adding dimes to our money counting. We will be working on exchanging more coins to a less number of coins but having the same value. We will review time to the hour and half hour too.
In reading we are continuing to learn about digraphs as well as working on blends. During morning meetings we have added more concepts than our Secret Stories. We have noticed abbreviations, circling our blends and digraphs, as well as finding editing mistakes like capitalization and end marks. So much learning as we read our note of the day! In literature, we will compare and contrast a variety of gingerbread stories. We will see if we can notice some twists to the traditional tale too!
Reminder! This Wednesday at 6:15 pm is our K-2 Christmas Show! Doors open at 5:45pm. Students arrive at 6:00pm. Please have your student wear Christmas colors: green and/or. Please no long dresses or heels as they will be on the risers up on stage.
Thank you for your help and support,
Mrs. Driscoll
