Hello- We only have a few months day left of school! We will be moving fast and working hard in first grade with lots of new skills to learn before the summer. Thank you for all you do at home with your child to review skills.

A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS

Language Arts: We are working on the following:

  • Check the picture
  • Look at ALL the parts of the word
  • Get a running start
  • Check it! Do a double-check!
  • Try it 2 ways!
  • Crach the parts together.
  • Do a slow check!

We are also working on reader learn new words a they read. Always stop to check if you understand the vocabulary. So, say the word the best you can. Think about what it means.

Phonics: Things you might notice in words.

  • vowels-long vowel? short vowel?
  • silent e
  • word parts
  • velnds or digraphs- beginning or end?
  • syllables
  • word endings (-er, ing, ed, s, es)

Math: We will have our math test for unit 5 on Tuesday. Please review this week with the study worksheet. DO NOT return study worksheet. I recommend you have your child do one side on their own. This way you know what you need to study when they don’t complete a section.

Writing: We will learn to add a table of contents to our information writing.

Science: Constellations…The students had a lot of fun with this theme. I know their are free apps that you can use to find constellations. Have fun!

Next week, we will have the RAYS program visit our class. Please look in your child’s homework folder on Thursday for information. 🙂
