Dear 1st Grade Families,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! This week will be lots of reviewing in all subjects along with some fun activities. Our week will end on Thursday (half day) with a little celebration. Our first and second graders will enjoy some fun games together on Thursday. We will end with our day with a delivery of Santa letters at about 11:45. Santa usually has all his letters delivered to SHS on Thursday right before dismissal at 12:00. If you plan to join to help, please be ready to enjoy their excitement.
HOMEWORK
No Homework: Read for fun! Please find time to find a cozy place to read daily.
Ideas of what to do to review at home:
Read daily, review sight words, practice math facts (addition and subtraction), allow time to write at home (journal), do some IXL and review spelling word sorts.
Have fun making memories!!!!

Language Arts
Grammar/Writing: Making cards for Buddies and Parents.
Reading/Phonics: Reviewing all our reading skills. We have been reading with our Christmas glasses during reading time.
Math: We are learning about measuring using inches.
Religion: Advent Prayer Assembly on Wednesday
Art: Snowflakes
I look forward to seeing all of you during our parent/teacher conferences. Dates and Times were sent in our family envelope last week so please make sure to call the office if you need any changes made to your conference time.
REMINDERS
- Library books are due every Tuesday. Students are allowed to check out two books only if books are returned.
- December 18th: K-2 Christmas Program at 6:00 p.m. Students are to arrive at 5:30 with Christmas attire. We will start promptly at 6:00 but if students are ready to go before we will begin our presentation.
- Reminder: Check out our school website for any upcoming events. Thursday, December 19th Noon Dismissal & free (free) dress day!
- Friday, December 20th NO school & the start of Christmas break! School resumes on January 6th.
- January 8th-10th parent-teacher conferences & 11:30 AM dismissal. Please check the conference schedules sent home in family envelopes last week.
