Hello-

First Graders are excited about Saints’ Parade. Primary Teachers will be sending an email in the next few days with more information on the Saints Parade.

HOMEWORK

Reminder: Homework is from Tuesday to Tuesday.

Reading Log: Please read 20 min. daily. Please remember NOT to click on the green checkmark until the due date for Homework.

FLUENCY: We will continue recording once a week with fluency homework.

Sight Words: Reminder to study sight words daily. I will continue sight word testing if your child received 80/100 for book 2. I will be checking the results for book 1 on Friday.

MATH IXL: D.1 and U.1

Spelling: Study for spelling test on Monday.

SNEAK PEEK AT OUR WEEK!

Here are a few skills we are working on in Reading:

*reading nonfiction books will be our focus this week.

*reading and remembering the story.

*rereading book

* looking for snap words (sight words) before reading

*Guess the feeling of the character as you read

*Sounding out words while we read but don’t forget to reread the whole sentence

Here are a few skills we are working on in Phonics

*knowing how to spell other words with sight words like the word all, will, and had. I can spell ball, wall, stall because I know all. I can spell spill because I know the word will.

*reviewing vowels, digraphs, and blends.

*students are stretching out words to write them especially the tricky blends and digraphs

Math: We will work on counting nickels and pennies. We will be taking our math test next week. You can look through unit 2-1 through 2-13. I am looking to see if they have mastered coutning nickels and pennies/ writing the time to the hour/and simple adding and subtracting.

Religion: Practice prayers in our prayer journal. We will read about Saints. We will go over Saint Report.

Saints’ parade is on November 20th! Primary will be sending an email with more details regarding our Saints’ Day!

Social Studies: Veteran’s Day! Writing a letter to thank a soldier. Your child wrote a letter to a soldier. I have asked them to read it to someone they know who is/was in the military. 🙂
