Homework: Homework will not be due until Thursday. This will give everyone some time to relax and enjoy the long weekend.

  • This will be a short week so read at least 4 times…Reading Log: Read 20 min. a day
  • No new sorts
  • Fluency
  • NO Math IXL but students have a math packet that was placed in their classwork folder. Some students did not have their classwork folder so it was placed in their planner.

Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week

Please be sure to check CLASSWORK folder or planner for any unfinished work. Please complete ASAP and return to school.

MATH:  2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional shapes are our main focus this week. We began on Monday by making 2-D and 3-D shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks. The next few weeks brings many assessments. Please review the following:

*time to the hour and half hour

*naming basic 2-D shapes and 3-D shapes

*Simple addition and subtraction: 17-5/20-8/18+10

*10 more than 18…10 more than 120…10 less than 110…

*skip counting by 10’s starting with 12/ skip counting by 2’s/ 5’s

READING/PHONICS:  We are completing our nonfiction reading. End of year reading assessments continue these next two weeks. Please continue having your child read aloud and take some time to discuss the book.

Writing: I will be collecting their writing on Thursday. These are a few things I’m look for in their writing:

*be able to state their problem

*give reasons why it’s important to change,

*how it’s going to be fixed or changed, and

*end their writing (conclusion).

We are working on adding capital letters to the beginning of a sentence and punctuation marks.  

SPELLING/WORD SORT:  No new sorts…We will be reviewing spelling patterns.  End of year spelling test will be completed by Thursday.

RELIGION:  Thank you to everyone who has brought in a flower for our Mary statue.  We walked over to the church this week to see our Mother Mary. We look forward to our next visit to church on Thursday.
