Practice first and last name at home. If you would like lined paper to practice at home, please send me an email or write a little note in your child’s planner.
Sneak Peek to our Academic Week
Word Work: We received our new sorts this week. Please practice at home. Spelling words should be written in their planner. Please remind your child to take an extra copy of word sort if needed at home. I can remind them if you let me know you want an extra copy.
Reading/Phonics: Our reading groups continue working on each students skills. Our lessons begin on gathering information while reading nonfiction books. This will also help with our writing unit.
Read Aloud: Dory Fantasmagory is our read aloud this week. Dory is a little rascal who loves to use her imagination. She also LOVES to annoy her siblings Violet and Luke.
Writing/Grammar: We are learning that adding detail to our how-to books is very crucial. Have your child walk you through how to brush your teach at home. Do exactly what they tell you! If they tell you to put the toothpaste on the toothbrush, please put the whole tube on the toothbrush. They should explicitly tell you to take the top off the toothpaste and gently squeeze some on the toothbrush. We had a great time when they had to tell me how to wash my hands. Lots of laughs!!!! I can’t wait to make some sandwiches with them! Part of our nonfiction writing is not only writing about how to do something but also writing about a topic they may know a lot about such as dogs, cats, legos, giraffes, etc… We are off to a great start!
Math: Frames and Arrows will continue to be reviewed. I will be sending a worksheet home for them to practice.
Religion: Jesus Calls Apostles: We are learning how we are todays apostles.
Art: It’s all about hearts the next few art lessons. We will be learning our to make vertical and horizontal lines using a ruler. Practice making lines at home with a ruler. Students will learn to create three 4 by 4 squares. We had a practice run of our boxes and hearts yesterday. We will continue to practice so we can create our final product by the end of next week.
Science: How do shadows move? This was a fun activity!
