First Grade Families-
We begin our SUMMER COUNTDOWN! Today we popped our first balloon which had “NO HOMEWORK” until summer work begins. A reminder that students will have summer work to complete. We have 9 more FUNtastic activities to get us through the next few days. The first graders cannot wait to find out what tomorrow’s surprise will be!!!!!
Progress Reports were sent home last week on Tuesday. Please make sure you check your child’s homeowork folder for the progress report.
Please continue to find time during the day to read for 20 minutes.
Sneak Peek at our Academic REVIEW Week
Word Work: We have completed word work. We will be reviewing spelling patterns. Assessments will be administered in the next few weeks.
Reading: We continue our reading groups with a focus on remembering details while reading. We are enjoying our partner reading time to improve our fluency.
Writing/Grammar: Persuasive/Opinion Writing
We are wrapping up our persuasive writing. We continue working on adding a conclusion. Students are working on capital letters, punctuation marks, and spacing between words.
Math: It’s all about 2-D and 3-D shapes! We made a sandcastle by using Sand -Sational Shapes. They will be displayed in class but will be sent home in June. We are doing lots of reviewing and assessing over the next few weeks.
Religion: We have been working on the prayer, Glory Be To The Father. Our focus will be the Trinity.
Art: We will enjoy art with Ms. Sofer on Wednesday! Ms. Sofer made a fish with the kids last week. We also learned how to make popsicle art using watercolors and crayons.
