Dear Parents, November 7, 2016
Thank you to all who came out to support our little saints! Everyone did a great job! Here’s what we are learning in first grade this week!
Language Arts: We are continuing on with Readers and Writers Workshop. In addition, we will also be focusing on specific phonetic skills. This week, we will be reviewing the short /o/ sound as in octopus and learning about clusters with “l” as in block, flag, and cloud.
Math: We will be wrapping up our Unit 3 this week. We will practice counting combination of coins, practice collecting data, and practice addition. We will be taking our test next Monday!
Science: We are taking a mini break from science to work on a special social studies project!
Social Studies: We are beginning our work on a special Readers Theater Thanksgiving play. Our scripts will be coming home on Tuesday with our roles- everyone will get a part. Please help your child practice their lines. As this is a Readers Theater play, these lines do not need to be memorized. We will perform our play on November 23 at 11:30 in our classroom. Mark your calendars!
Religion: This week we are reading from our Family Life Series focusing on our feelings.
