This week in fourth grade we have a major focus on the meaning of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday.  We will read from our Bibles, discuss Jesus’ ride on the donkey into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, Jesus being crucified, and His rising.  We will also discuss the symbols of Easter and their meanings.  On Wednesday we will color eggs and discuss new beginnings and rebirth.

Tuesday, the students will take an English assessment on the mechanics of writing (Unit 9.)  Also planned for Tuesday is an art/literature activity where the students will use clay to “sculpt” their own angels.  In our current novel, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, the mystery revolves around Michelangelo and a statue of an angel.  I am sure we will see some very “interesting” angels!

We will attend Mass at 8:30 Wednesday morning. If you are available, we would love to have as many parents as possible sitting with our class.

Holy Thursday is a half day.  I highly encourage you to attend mass Thursday evening, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.  Your children listen to only a fraction of what you say, but will emulate a great deal of what you do.

Enjoy the Easter vacation!  The children have worked very hard and are ready for some family time.  Have a very blessed Easter.

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
