Over the weekend many Sacred Heart teachers attended a great science conference at Oxnard College.  The speakers were wonderful and I return to school today with some new ideas and a lot of fabulous science books for the students. One is titled, What Happens When I Throw Up! I know these books will be a big hit!

On a different note, the students now have either a particular mission or gold rush to investigate and explore for our spring project.  The project is explained in detail in the handouts you received (bright orange folder) during back to school night in August.  We have many resources available in our school library. Also, the internet is a valuable tool for gathering information.  Click on the following for a wonderful

All students should be reading a mystery for the next book report.  The sticky notes for comprehension should be used again.  They force the students to stop and think about what they are reading.  Please make sure your child has enough down time in the evenings to relax and read for awhile.  Ask questions about what he or she is reading.  If you show and share an interest in their reading materials, they will want to read more!  Friday is Veteran’s day and a day off from school. In addition to spending a bit of time praying for our military and giving thanks for the freedoms we have in our country, schedule some reading time for your family!  Make some popcorn, gather in a quiet room, and spend time reading together.

Can you believe it is November and we are coming to the end of the first trimester??  I am pleased with the progress the class is making in all areas and want to say thank you for your support and trust.  I do not take it lightly.

God bless and have a good week.

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
