It was good to see so many of you last week at our school fair. The students did a wonderful job on their projects! We celebrated all the hard work by digging into Raquel’s mission cake. It was delicious!
During religion we are focusing on the Beatitudes. Today we discussed, “Happy are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” We talked about how sharing with others brings us happiness. Many ways of sharing were discussed. Our sock drive is certainly one way we are sharing with those less fortunate. Thank you to all who have given new socks to add to our basket.
The chapter 7 math test will be given tomorrow. Our next chapter focuses on algebra and patterns. This week we are also wrapping up chapter 7 in science. Instead of a vocabulary test for this chapter, the students will be assessed on their drawings depicting each of the vocabulary words, i.e., they will draw a picture showing what a sand dune might look like. We are on Unit 29 for spelling words. Week 20 of our Social Studies Weekly focuses on how the California constitutional convention worked to set up a government for CA and helped persuade the U.S. Congress to allow CA to become a state. The students will also have Ms. Alden teaching cursive writing several times a week. This will reinforce their skills and give them much needed practice.
Have a great week,
Mrs. Sharon Redmond
