I hope you all enjoyed the very fall feeling weekend!  I love it!

This week in fourth grade we continue the study of early California Native Americans. I will give students a new vocabulary list for social studies.  This is also posted on the Spelling City website.

I am postponing our math test on multiplication.  I don’t feel the students are quite ready to move on to division yet and I want to give them more time to practice multiplying two digits by two digits.  The test will be given Tuesday, October 30th.

Students have completed their first essays of the school year.  They will go home next week after those children who want to read their work aloud have the opportunity to do so.

Unit two of reading/language arts has been very informative about weather, hurricanes in particular.  Students are in the process of writing a short essay summarizing what we have learned  about hurricanes.  They are gathering information from a variety of sources, both fiction and nonfiction.

Our first field trip will be a visit to Olivas Adobe on November 13th.  It is always great fun and very educational.  More information to follow!

I will be out of town this week Wednesday through Friday.  The students will be in the very capable hands of  Mrs. Romero (they love her!)

I feel we have accomplished a lot in this first trimester and I am enjoying the group very much.  Please feel free to contact me if you have questions, comments, or concerns.

Blessings,

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
