We will begin Unit 3, “Clues to a Culture”, beginning upon our return to school after Christmas break.  In preparation for the unit:

Please choose and read a book from the selection below.  These books can be found in our school library.

Walk Two Moons (Sharon Kreech)

Julie of the Wolves (Jean Craighead George)

Island of the Blue Dolphins (Scott O’Dell)

Sign of the Beaver (Elizabeth George Speare)

The essential question of this unit is “How does literature provide insight into a culture?”

As you read your chosen book, you are looking for “clues” or information about the particular culture of a people.  Name the culture and take notes about information related to that culture.

When we return to school in January, we will compare and contrast the different cultures.  The book needs to be completed and at school on January 6, 2014.
