Dear Kindergarten Parents,

You will find the Young Explorer magazine to read and use for the book response. Some children enjoy finding their own non-fiction book to report on – which is fine. We do enjoy reading these together on Thursdays.

The 100 day of school is coming soon! It is on January 20. Start thinking of what your child can bring to school. It must be 100 items!! Suggestions: paper clips, cotton balls, stickers, pencils, erasers, small candies like jelly beans,  (please no peanut or tree nut products),  pennies, play money, rubber bands, etc. Each bag can have different items or all the same. Your choice. The plan is to put items in small baggies in groups of 5, 10, 20, or 25 for easier counting. Please write how many items are in each bag. Please note a special 100 day bag will come home soon. When all 100 items are grouped in individual bags – please staple as we will be guessing what is in the bags!  In the past we sometimes share items in the bags, but this is not necessary, only a choice.

Our school fair is coming March 2! To get familiar with how animals compare we will be doing simple research in the World Book Web. Please help your child at home, as one research paper will be required each week for the next 5 weeks.

Required homework:

Reading for 15-20 per night  —  January book-it calendar

Reading  information  — non-fiction book response
