This coming week our focus for at home will be getting ready for Valentine’s Day. You will find a list of names if your child wants to add names to the cards for exchange. I recommend for your children just to write their name on the Valentine card.

You will find Mabel’s Sight Word Book to practice each night. Spend about 5 to 10 minutes. We need to know the words in a snap 3 seconds or less. See it and say it. No sounding out with sight words. In class I will test to see if your child knows list one and two. Continue with list 3 and 4 when ready. A sticker will be added to the cover as the words in lists are mastered. Testing will be every week or two.

We are at a good point now for your beginning readers. And knowing snap words helps their reading and writing excel. We have been using these words in class, support at home is a positive. It is fine to write words in book and tally up snap words at you read together.

A library book is coming home as well as a Young Explorer magazine. Do a book response on either and return on Thursday, February 13. Also return sight word book in homework folder for testing next Thursday.

No IXL this week – work on Valentine’s Day cards, reading, and snap words.
