Hello Kindergarten Families,
Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend!
Our faith focus finds us sharing in God’s love. Over the next few weeks, your children will understand what Jesus meant by calling himself the Good Shepherd. We will continue with learning how to open our hearts and hands to care and help others.
Your children learned about Martin Luther King’s message of equality, his dream for all people. We are learning how important it is to “be like Martin”.
Reading more non-fiction material- we are reading and learning about polar animals and how animals survive the winter months. This unit covers science as well as social studies.
Writing simple stories – we are working on narrative writing – with drawings, adding labels or speech bubbles to convey more detail as we write.
Phonics finds us working as detectives listening for beginning, middle and ending sounds. We are substituting letters to make new words example: pig – to big; same with vowels cat – to cut; and ending bad- to bat.
Math skills continue working on place value and understanding value of coins. We are working on the number grid adding by ones as well as tens and subtracting by tens and ones.
Homework from last week is due on Thursday this week- take an extra day! This coming week my focus will be to read nightly and look for some work on Seesaw.
Coming soon! Look for a post and a video of MLK’s dream and your child’s dream along with drawing of this important man.
If you have any questions as always feel free to send me an email.
Blessings,
Mrs. Brown
