Dear Fifth Grade Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.  This Friday is Parent  Day and  a noon dismissal.  We will begin with Mass at 8:30.  I look forward to seeing everyone on Friday.

Every night your child should be reviewing their Social Studies and Science notes.   By Friday every student needs to have completed three Acc math packets.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. My email address is fifthgrade@sacredheartschoolventura.org. Please make sure that all students have their needed supplies everyday (paper, pencils, binders and flash drives).

Below is an overview of our week.

Math:  We  are beginning adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators.

Science: We are reviewing for our chapter 5 test that will take place next Monday.

Social Studies:  We will be analyzing William Penn’s Colony and the  immigrants who came to the colony.  We will discuss how people from different cultures contributed to the life of the Middle Colonies.

English: We are identifying object pronouns in prepositional phrases and distinguishing between specific words used as adverbs and as prepositions.

Religion: This week  we will be taking the ACRE test.

Spelling: Unit 16.  We will have out test on Thursday.

Vocabulary: Unit 8

Literature:  We will continue reading our novel, Indian in the Cupboard.
