Dear Kindergarten families,
All enjoyed Monday’s In ‘N’ Out and Dippin Dots lunch fundraiser! Thank you for participating. It was nice to see many families here having a lunch break with your children.
Field trip fun continues as we travel to ATLAS school on Wednesday. We are leaving at 8:00. Please apply sunblock before school as we will be out all morning. Have your child dressed in school uniform, comfortable walking shoes, bring a small snack and water in a disposable bag. Parents are welcome to join us for this walking field trip.
This week we continue with our poems – 5 kindergarten finalists will present to the judges on Monday, May 2.
Our academic week:
Religion-continue discussing how Jesus is the Light of the World – illustrating how we show His light of love.
ELA- wrapping up short vowel /o/ and starting /e/. Reviewing short vowel /a/, /i/, /o/ and beginning consonants as well as listening for ending consonant sounds. Reading strategy – sequencing events and story components. Punctuation – capitalization, endings and quotation marks. Naming and action words, Words their Way finds us with sequencing nursery rhymes and sorting initial consonant sounds. Continue with sight words practice at home-your children are doing great!
EM- place value concept of ones, tens, and hundreds, work with double digits at home, some children have trouble with numbers higher than thirty. Understanding the 110 number grid and using it to add and subtract. Coins: recognizing names of coins: penny, nickel, and counting these coins.
Science -experimenting with H2O- looking at rate of evaporation and states of water.
Social studies – distance and measurement as we continue to look at many types of maps.
Friday is a half day of school !!
