Dear Kindergarten families,
Hard to believe April is just around the corner. This week we are wrapping up all the fun that goes along with Read Across America. Wednesday is Crazy Socks Day! Students are wearing uniforms…but don’t forget to sport some bright, colorful, and crazy socks!! And on Friday final drawing for all that extra reading time your children have been participating in. Fingers are crossed for our class.
A big thank you for the parents who were able to come help for Primary Centers. Mrs. Benner decided to add one more Primary Center activity on May 5. The following Friday, May 12 is Jogathon and a noon dismissal as well. This is one of our big fundraisers to end the year. Please come out support us!
Please don’t forget to pre-order In-N-Out and Dip-n-Dots by April 4. All sales must be in by then. In-N-Out offers grilled cheese as well. Most of us will choose no meat on Thursday since this special lunch get-together falls on Friday. Lunch for Kinders usually begins near 11:30. Come and have lunch with your child(ren) and help support our school.
Our academics follow the usual pattern- here’s a look:
Religion continues with Jesus’ life and forgiveness. Stations of the Cross is on Wednesday at 2:00, as always please join us if your schedule permits.
ELA – working with letters/sounds/; blending and segmenting words as we read. Printing practice with sight word sentences; punctuation and sentence structure. Reading and writing workshops continue with a new unit. Reading harder books using our powers and bigger reading muscles. Writing on what we do best and what we believe can help our community and school. Persuading others to be safe.
Math – finds us working with double digit numbers, addition and subtraction, place value, math stories and number grid.
Science- we are doing an excellent job with our garden, we will also explore the water cycle and weather patterns.
Social studies- continues with mapping and our community.
This should take us through the week!
Friday is a full day of school.
Thank you for your children.
Mrs. Carol Brown
