It was wonderful to see so many parents at Back to School Night! We wish we could have shown you more websites but our time was limited. My hope is that you will encourage your children to make use of the following websites.
All three grades are using zingylearning.com, which is a series of animated lessons that follow the California standards for science. Each student has their own log-in information and I am able to keep track of their progress. Use of this program is part of their science grade.
Some good websites for math which we use in class are sheppardsoftware.com and coolmathgames.com.
An excellent resource for learning math and other subjects, and then practicing the skills, is khanacademy.org. Your student can watch any videos of his or her choice, and there is an amazing variety of topics included. In order to practice the skills a facebook or google account is required. The practice area is quite motivating; students are awarded points and are advanced in levels as they show proficiency. A great way to supplement and reinforce math skills!
A final note: spellingcity.com is the website being used by both sixth and eighth graders and seventh graders will begin using it shortly.
