Dear Kindergarten Parents,
It was a nice long weekend ! With an exciting week ahead…
** Wednesday is a free dress for the Jogathon and later on the Pizza Dinner and Slide Show.
**Friday is a full day (our last full day Friday)
Hope all parents did their homework – we need those permission slips for next Monday’s field trip!!
I enjoyed reading about your child’s Hero- we will be reading these in class!
Religion – Pentecost – celebrating the Holy Spirit, Jesus’ gift to us. The Holy Spirit invites us to live Jesus’ loving response to God. Our discussions and drawings will reflect how we can live in His goodness and show good stewardship for the Earth.
ELA – Short vowels words with a strong focus on /u/ substituting consonants to make rhyming words. Reviewing consonants sounds /b/, /k/, and /l/. Sight word work in sentences. Writing about animals and their babies, naming words and action words. Reading strategy focus: predict / infer. Comprehension: to compare / contrast. As you read with your child – take a extra minute to ask questions about the story. Making inferences is difficult skill; but very important to your child’s reading success- spend a little time asking your child if they can figure out something the author did not tell you. For help with this and other reading skills…..click on Questions to Ask — Save this tool for summer reading!
EM – Lots of addition and subtraction, mental math, number grid adding and subtraction, math story problems, exploring the dollar bill, and working to printing our numbers neatly. We are busy with math!
Science – natural resources – water conservation – and work in our health booklet
Social studies – amazing work has been accomplished with our National Symbols – a beautiful booklet is in the making!
This week will be our last homework assignment – look for the red folders on Thursday.
Thank you for your children –
Mrs. Carol Brown
