Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. As we prepare for the end of school and summer vacation, keep in mind we are here for  nine more days.  Kindergarten Promotion on Wednesday, June 8 at 4:00-5:00, but this is not the last day of school for your kinders. Next week we  have school on Thursday and Friday as well. Thursday is Spirit Day, with games and a hot dog lunch, dismissal at 12:00.  Friday, is our last day of school we will attend Mass and an awards assembly dismissal is at 10:15. Parents are welcome to join us!

This Friday your children will visit Mrs. Manning’s First Grade classroom for “Move Up” Day. They are excited to see what is like to be at first grader! School is dismissed at noon for a faculty meeting.

We have two more summer birthdays to celebrate, Ryan and Rayanne.

Academics:

Celebrating is Good, our focus on Mass, praying, meaning of the gifts, and how we thank God for His true gift of love-Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The strategy for reading this week is to compare and contrast as we listen and note details. We are reviewing consonants and all vowel sounds, printing, and number formation. Word families “ug” and “ut” as we read our last theme in Language Arts. Math will be exciting as we work in our textbooks identifying / sorting  plane and solid geometric shapes. I hope we have time to touch on symmetry.

This summer your children are encouraged to continue reading while doing a some work related to school academics. I am making a journal type booklet which will be named “Your Ticket to First Grade.” This booklet will have a check off sheet with activities and a reading log to complete weekly.  Please help your child be responsible to set aside a small amount of time each week of  summer vacation. I feel this will help to keep their minds ‘fresh’ for school in August.
