As the school year begins…so do middle school departments. The 6th, 7th and 8th graders meet once a month as part of school leadership. The VP’s led their first department meetings last week. In the Spirituality Department, Friday morning prayers were written, Grandparents Mass planned, and Saint of the month (Saint Rose of Lima) researched and a biography written. In the Social Department, Grandparent’s Day banners were made and classroom posters with inspirational quotes about grandparents were written and decorated. The Ambo banner for Mass was also created. In the Service Department, virtue posters for Saint Rose of Lima were created. They also worked on a presentation for the assembly on what the virtues look like in Saint Rose of Lima’s time, as well as, for us today. The Service Department also worked on a service project: Save a cap, Save a Life. We are collecting plastic bottle caps. Every 1,000 bottle caps collected will pay for one chemotherapy treatment for a little girl in Mexico, who is suffering from cancer.
Overall, the middle school students did a great job on their first department meeting; we accomplished quite a bit and had fun completing the work!
