With Lent approaching, Ash Wednesday is March 9, middle school leadership will be selling donuts for $1 each during the week of February 28. All purchased donuts will be delivered at recess on Mardi Gras, March 8. In the February 21 Family Letter, I mistakenly wrote that each donut would be 50 cents each but the purpose of the sale is to raise funds for those in need in Haiti and the $1 price will allow us to send more money to the HCA. The Holy Childhood Association, established 158 years ago and a part of the mission awareness effort of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, has the goal of “children helping children.” The Holy Childhood Association has a worldwide focus; Father Ken Deasy from our archdiocese has made several trips to Haiti since the January ‘10 earthquake and has sent information we are sharing with our students. Please visit http://www.hcakids.org/ and http://www.onefamilyinmission.org/hca.html to learn more about The Holy Childhood Association.

Education at Sacred Heart School is centered in Christ and is concerned with the development of the whole child. We are committed to helping students grow in trust and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as well as to helping them grow in the spirit of prayer, service and leadership in the Christian community. Sacred Heart School cooperates with and assists the parents or legal guardians, who are the primary educators of their children. Along with teaching Catholic dogma, doctrine, and morals, Sacred Heart School maintains a strong, innovative curriculum. It is our goal to promote a school atmosphere that is enlivened by Gospel values, intellectual proficiency, and self-esteem.
