Dear Second Grade Families,
Woohoo! We have finally completed our ITBS testing! We are ready to get back to our academic routine. On Tuesday, you will receive your child’s progress report in their “Tuesday Work Packet Folder”.
Here is a look at our week:
Homework
IXL: A.6 & S.1
Spelling City Assignments Spelling Unit 7: consonant clusters (e.g. sp, xt, sl).
Fluency: Great Job with fluency! All students continue to show growth in their fluency. Keep it up!!!
FLAT PEOPLE UPDATE : We will begin writing our letter to our host family on Friday. Student pictures for Flat Hosts were taken last week. I will get them laminated by the end of the week.
STUDENT OF THE WEEK: We will be getting to know our friend, Diego G., this week! We are so excited to find out a few new things about Diego.
RELIGION: I would like to have the students bring in any memorabilia (candle/pictures/rosary) of their Baptism. Please have any pictures sent by next Monday, October 13th.
SAINTS: Saint selection will be assigned this Friday. The assignment will be due on October 24th.
LANGUAGE ARTS: We will begin the last silly story, “Mrs. Brown Went to Town” from Theme 1. We will strategy focus is on predictions/Inferences (using what you already know, as well as information from the story).
MATH: Addition Strategies that are doubles; Fact Families; Subtraction and Addition word problems We will be working on 2.4-2.8. Please use everydaymath.com for any math resources to support our lessons at home (HOMELINKS).
SCIENCE: We will complete our Lima Bean Observation this week. Lima Bean plants will be going home this week.
SOCIAL STUDIES; Social Studies; Communities, maps. We will discuss all the places our Flat Students will be visiting this year. We are ready to start writing our letters to our Flat Host. We will mail our flat students by the end of next week if all goes well.

Thursday: Library books are due.
Friday: Full Day!
Saturday: Come support our parish! Fall Harvest Festival at Sacred Heart Church from 1pm-6pm.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: I will need 5 parent volunteers for October 17th from 10:00-12:00 for Primary Centers. If you are able to volunteer, please send me an email .
