Advent is here! Awake and prepare for the Christmas season.
This week we will catch up with our academics and prepare for Advent.
Religion: we will be learning that Advent is the season of waiting and preparing to celebrate the coming of Christ; a long time ago as a baby and a man, His daily comings in grace through the sacraments and in our daily lives, and His future coming in glory.
Language Arts: consists of reviewing the alphabet and letter formation, recognition, and the sounds of /m/, /s/, /r/, /t/, and /b/. Simple sentences using our sight words, color words for descriptions, and ‘at’ family words. We will begin spelling this week with six words. I will use words from our first sight words and ‘at’ family. A practice list will be in this week’s homework packet.
Math: we are continuing to practice identifying and forming numbers correctly. We will begin Chapter 4, which is numbers 6-12. Practice counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s each day.
Science: In class we are finishing our unit on plants, moving on to our five senses.
Social Studies: Comparing how people lived in long ago with today’s busy living. This fits well with the Advent season, we will draw many comparisons from the people and events in our Bible stories.
Thank you for your children,
Carol Brown
