Dear Fifth Grade Families,

October is here!  After two weeks of ITBS testing we are getting back into our normal routine.  Progress Reports will be going home on Tuesday.  Please sign and return the Progress Report.  This week is our Pumpkin Sale. This Friday is also a noon dismissal.

Below is an overview of our week.

Math: Chapter 2.  Adding and Subtracting whole numbers and decimals.  We will also be focusing on problem solving skill:  Too much or too little information.

Science: Chapter 2, Plant Systems.  We will be comparing vascular to non vascular plants.

Vocabulary: Unit 2.  We will have our test on Wednesday.

Spelling: Unit 32.  We will be learning about the suffixes –ent, -ant, -able, and -ible.  We will have our test this Friday.

Social Studies: Chapter 2.   Our focus is on the Native Americans of the Southwest.

English: We will be reviewing subject and predicates in sentences.  We will also identify action verbs, helping verbs and linking verbs.

Religion:  Our focus will be on how Baptism unites us the Christian community.

Literature:  We will be reading our novel, Indian in the Cupboard.
