The Archdiocese of Los Angeles released this statement today regarding, our Pastor, Father Al.

“The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has been informed that Fr. Aloysius (“Al”) Ezeonyeka. Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Ventura, CA, who is in Nigeria visiting family for the Christmas holiday, was injured in an attack on the vehicle he was in. Father Al was the sole survivor of what appears to be a random attack. He is in the hospital under medical care. He is out of immediate danger, is communicating with his family and recovering from his injuries.

Archbishop José H. Gomez and Bishop Robert Barron, Auxiliary Bishop for the Santa Barbara Region, join the Sacred Heart Parish community in prayer and ask the faithful of the Archdiocese to pray for Fr. Father Al so that he may make a full recovery.”
