Dear Kindergarten Families,

Since the weeks seem to fly by, let me share information about the Saint’s Parade and costumes for your kindergartner.
Friday, November 5 we will go to mass at 8:30 in our saint’s costumes and follow with a parade on the campus field. This is a beautiful and memorable day; you will not want to miss! Bring your cameras. Your child will come to school in costume and change after the parade (which will be close to recess). Please have your child wear their uniform under their costume if possible.

I would like to have the name of the saint your child will represent turned into class by Tuesday, October 19. Send it in via the class folder (the gold laminated one). We will make a banner for your child to wear displaying the name of their saint.
Please have the costumes decided by Monday, October the 25nd .

*If you need any help or ideas with the costume, please let me know.
*I am here to help and have been involved in many Saint’s Parades with the Sacred Heart children.

Examples of Saints children love to represent:

Saint Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint John the Baptist, Saint Nicholas, Saint Patrick, Saint George, Saint Christopher, Saint Rose of Lima, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, Saint Joan of Arc

There are many more please check out this web site: http://www.catholic.org/saints/popular.php

The costumes do not need be elaborate. Adult-sized tunics, t-shirts, dress shirts, and smocks are some examples of prior costumes. Use a rope or belt tied at the waist, girls can wear dresses with veils, or a simple piece of material can look great for a cape or headpiece.

Your child will have to know the name of which saint they are portraying. It is very important to make the costumes simple; the length should not go below the ankles. They are to wear tennis shoes, and please not have too many objects to carry.

It is always good to wear costume at home to make sure it is comfortable and easy to walk in. Test the costume by sitting, walking, and kneeling at home.

Any questions? Feel free to write a note in the class folder.

Bless you and your little saints

Carol Brown
