A young 2 year old girl in Mexico is suffering with cancer and struggling to pay for her treatments. Luckily, a group of businesses have promised to donate money for this little girl, but there is one catch. They want 1,000 bottle caps for each treatment.
Since August 26, 2019 Sacred Heart School in Ventura, California has been busy collecting plastic bottle caps for this little girl. A family friend of the little girl lives in Ventura. This family friend not only is helping the family to collect bottle caps, but will also be delivering the caps to them in Mexico.
Jars with the moto “Save a Cap, Save a Life,” have been placed in each classroom with several large containers outside at the lunch tables to collect the plastic bottle caps.
The eighth grade has taken the lead, specifically Isaac Weslow, the school’s secretary, by keeping track of the number of plastic bottle caps. Since September 3rd, SHS has collected a total of 13,660 caps which is enough to pay for 13 cancer treatments.
