Hello Second Grade Families,

It was a pleasure getting to chat with each of you over this last week. Thank you for taking the time to meet, discuss and plan. Your steadfast commitment to your child’s education is to be admired.

In class this week, we’ll be working on the following:

Math: We will finish up the Unit with a test on Thursday. Unit reviews as well as Home Links for the next Unit will be sent home this afternoon with those who requested one via e-mail last week.

P.19 Least number of coins

Reading: We have launched Phonics Workshop and the students are loving it! Last week we reviewed the silent e and vowel teams. This week we will work in rug clubs as we introduce the “My Snap Words Book” and review R-controlled vowels.

Word Work: This week’s spelling test is scheduled for Friday morning. Many groups are making great progress, with several moving from one color to the next!

Science: We will be doing some planting this week as we study why plants grow in one direction or another.

Religion: In preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we will begin Chapter 12: We Meet Jesus in the Sacrament. We will be focusing on such words as confession and penance.
