Hello Second Grade Families,
It was a pleasure to see so many happy families Friday morning for the Saints Parade. All of our Saints were a vision unto themselves.
This week in class:
Math: Our plan is to wrap up Unit 3: Place Value with a variety of activities: double frames and arrows, more practice with base-10 blocks and The Making Change Game! Plan for a test on Friday.
For this week’s IXL math homework, please complete the following skills:
P.20 How much more to make $1.00
F.14 Balance subtraction equations — up to 18
M.14 Convert between place values — ones, tens and hundreds
Word Work: This week’s words are the same as last. Plan for a spelling test on Thursday.
Reading: This week we will focus on how nonfiction readers notice, learn and question. We will also ask “What is this book teaching me?”.
Writing: The class will learn how to make the most of your time with a writing partner. We will go through the steps for storytelling with a partner.
Science: We will continue our unit on plant adventures with a lab posing the question: Do plants eat dirt?
Religion: This week, we’ll finish our study of the Saints before moving into our preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation.
Have a great week!
Ms. Espinosa
