HOMEWORK
Fluency – Please read the fluency passage and answer the questions on the back. This should be completed over the course of 4 days.
Reading Log – Please read a minimum of 20 minutes daily with the goal of having read 100 minutes for the week. Please have your child write the title(s) of the books and minutes read on the Reading Log.
Saint Report – Please complete the Saint Report and record yourself reading your Saint Report on Seesaw. Please turn in your Saint Report and drawing/picture of your Saint by Monday, November 8.
No IXL homework this week.
ACADEMICS
Reading: Becoming Expert Readers of Nonfiction Books – We are learning how to look at all the different parts of the book as determine what the book is teaching us.
Phonics: Phonological awareness review continued – We are manipulating the initial and final sounds in -r controlled words. We are also learning how to write multisyllabic words by clapping out the syllables and listening for the different vowel teams.
Spelling: Your child’s sort can be found in their planner and Homework Folder. New sorts are distributed on Monday and the spelling tests are the following Monday.
Math: We are using addition and subtraction rules to complete number sequences. We are also learning different subtraction strategies: counting back, counting up, and the -9 and -8 shortcuts. We will be wrapping up the unit this week in order to take the Unit 2 Math Assessment on Tuesday of next week.
Writing: We continue working on our personal narratives. We are rereading our work to write meaningful revisions and make quick edits.
Religion: We are learning how to give love to others through respect, kindness, and truthfulness.
Social Studies: We continue working on labeling features on a map of the United States.
Science: No science this week.
