Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and break. This week we ease back into academics after enjoying time with family and friends. I look forward to meeting with everyone at Family Conferences.
ACADEMICS
Reading: We continue learning how to connect information from different nonfiction books on the same topic.
Phonics: We continue reviewing Phonological Awareness. We are focusing on -r controlled words (or, ar, and ir)and using the spelling patterns -ee, -air, and -ore to write new words.
Spelling: No new sorts this week. We are reviewing previous sorts.
Math: We begin Unit 4 which focuses on Addition and Subtraction. We are working on change-to-more number stories and parts-and-total number stories.
Writing: We sharing our personal narratives with the class. It’s time for our authors to share their work. We are also writing New Years Resolutions for school.
Religion: We are learning we receive peace through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We are learning that accidents, mistakes, and temptations are not sins.
Social Studies: We are sharing what we learned about our family history and why our ancestors located to their current residences.
Science: No Science this week.

HOMEWORK
Fluency – Please read the fluency passage and answer the questions on the back. This should be completed over the course of 4 days.
Reading Log – Please read a minimum of 20 minutes daily with the goal of having read 100 minutes for the week. Please have your child write the title(s) of the books and minutes read on the Reading Log.
