ACADEMICS
Reading: We are learning how to match our reading to the mood of the text, read at a pace suitable for comprehension, and recognize literary language.
Phonics: We are learning how to build words by looking for bigger parts, writing words out by each syllable, and checking that there is a vowel in each syllable.
Spelling: Please check your student’s planner for their sort. Spelling tests will be on Monday. Some students may spend two weeks on a sort.
Math: We working on assessments of math skills learned since the beginning of the school year. Please continue to work with your child as they learn addition and subtraction facts up to 20. By the end of Second Grade, we should know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
Writing: Nonfiction Writing – We continue adding final touches to our nonfiction writing to submit for publication on Thursday. Some students have begun writing another nonfiction book.
Religion: We will be learning about St. Patrick. In addition, we are starting to learn about the different parts of the Mass as we prepare for our First Holy Communion.
Social Studies: We are learning how and why the United States makes laws.

Thursday, March 17 – Library books due and add green accessories to P.E. uniform

HOMEWORK
Fluency – Please read the fluency passage and answer the questions on the back. This should be completed over the course of 4 days.
Reading log – Please read 20 minutes daily with a minimum of 100 minutes read for the week. Please write the book titles and the minutes read.
Math IXL – E.17, H.2, and K.3
