It’s March, and today we kicked off our month-long Read Across America activities. There will be at least one special activity related to this celebration each week.
As we continue our Lenten journey, we will be attending Stations of the Cross on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Please join us if you can!
School Fair is this Wednesday evening, from 6:30 until 7:45 p.m. All mission models, scrapbooks or videos, with the accompanying written reports, are due by Wednesday morning. Models (and only models) should be delivered to the Parish Center when you arrive in the morning.
Work packets go home tomorrow. Please spend time discussing the quality of the work your child is handing in. I spoke to the class today about taking pride in the work we produce. Is it the best we can do? Is it the neatest it can be? Is this our best writing?
This week we will be completing Reading logs, due next Monday, but only four days are required; I am giving students the night off on Wednesday so they can come to the School Fair. You may click here to access the form.
We will be doing three ixL skills: D 12, 13 and 14, due by next Monday.
In Writer’s Workshop we maintain our focus upon opinion essays.
In Social Studies we are beginning chapter 5, learning about the gold rush and California statehood.
We have started Unit 20 in Spelling; there will be a test on Friday. In addition, students are writing sentences (or stories!!) with the words, and this work is due on Friday.
We will begin the next unit in Vocabulary (unit 12) this week; test will be next week.
In Grammar we conclude our study of Unit 3 (verbs); test will be on Friday.
In Math we continue our study of Unit 5.
In Science we will conclude our discussion of humans and their effect upon ecosystems; we will have a test next week.
We have begun our study of the 5th Commandment in Religion class.
In Reading groups we continue reading our literature selections, as well as reading nonfiction selections in the Scholastic News magazines.
Thanking you for your continued support,
Mrs. Dwyer
